ABOUT
My name is Adam Prazak and I'm a 20-year veteran of the USAF. After my retirement, I realized I needed a hobby so I decided to try my hand at making knives. Luckily I have a large shop, so it was easy to build my first forge and start hammering. I rediscovered my passion for using my hands and creating something useful and beautiful. Each knife is unique; I never make the same knife twice. A knife may be similar to other builds but never the same. I enjoy seeing the results of my hard work and dedication. The art that goes into making a knife is undeniable. Thank you for visiting my website.

THE PROCESS
I work just like many other bladesmiths, which is slow. I always have at least five different knives at different stages being built. Quality takes time and time I take, especially when making a Damascus. For a standard Damascus, I often use 1084/1095 or 5160 with 15N20. For a canister Damascus, I use any hardenable steel I have on hand: ball bearings, chainsaw chains, bicycle or motorcycle chains, etc. to get a different pattern on the blade. It’s always so exciting to see how the blade turns out.

In addition to the steel mentioned above, I use 1080, 52100, 80CrV2, O1, 26C3/Pops Sheffcut, 8670, 440C and spring steel such as 5160. I enjoy working with O1 tool steel with which I find it easy to work. There are two blades I specifically make out of O1 and I love how sharp they can get with ease, but my favorite steels are 80CrV2 and POPS 8670, due to their durability. For custom orders, I will use just about any steel one desires.

I do all the leatherwork myself. More elaborate sheaths will cost a little more, depending on the order. I can also make left-handed sheaths if requested. If you are looking to carry your knife in the back on your belt or on a strap over the neck, just let me know and I will see how I can accommodate you.

Here Is What Our Customers Say About Us
"After being fortunate enough to tour the facilities at 1776 Blades with bladesmith Adam, I was able to secure one of his Hancock models. The fit and finish of this knife is incredible! The craftsmanship he shows on his leather sheaths is every bit as high as the knives themselves. This knife is secure in the sheath with no wiggle or play whatsoever; it fits like a glove. The Hancock model knife has become my go-to kitchen knife, whether I’m preparing dinner for the family or processing game.
I can’t wait to get my hands on another one of his knives and the next one will be one of his beautiful Damascus steel blades."

"I recently purchased a Morris from 1776blades.com and I couldn't be happier with it. The bladesmith asks you questions to help get you what you truly want. I received my order promptly and the knife arrived in excellent condition. I'm thrilled with the quality and will definitely shop here again in the future. Highly recommended."
